I didn’t find this article particularly interesting as it talked about obvious and basic things in my opinion. When there is a lack of people in a job sector they are obviously going to be wanted more, thus offered more money because there is competition (supply – demand). I think that when he is talking about the point that his sister is making he is basically describing communism. Of course it would be nice if, no matter what job everyone had, they would make the same money and we would share everything equally, but as we have seen that never works. It sounds like Somers accepts a certain unhappiness just for a secure paycheck. I think he would be much happier if he would follow his passion of writing because anything gained from it will be much more satisfying and meaningful. When you die you don’t take your money you take your memories, so it comes down to what is more important for you?
