Everything Somers covers in this article seems to be the natural way things are separated, especially when he says described the worth of certain jobs. He argues “It’s the combination of scarcity and wantedness that drives up a salary,” and to me that’s just basic economics.

In the example of his sister, though she pursued something that fit not only her level of intellect but also her interests, it didn’t work out that well for her in the end. At the end of the day, even if you’re passionate about something, I think it’s important to look at the “job market” for your major. Whether or not we like to admit it, it’s difficult to become and keep ourselves sustained in jobs that are dissipating. Do you guys agree?
