I don’t think the article is about “Are coders worth it”. Somers explains in the beginning of this reading about how he got into web developer job, which reveals the fact that he concerns more about how much he gets paid and how high demand the job is regardless of his passion. I wonder if one day there are excessive numbers of web developers, coders and programmers and they are not in need anymore, would he go back to his writing path? I don’t quite understand the reason why he chose money over something that he loves. The value of doing what you’re passionate about is being able to enjoy every task you’re given. I’m sure there are tons of ways for himto make the same amount of money and still be a writer. What he would get from it as an extra is “value” which, to me, would be my first concern.
