This article is interesting in that it exposes some of the problems with the cloud and information. Although it talks about many political reasons it doesn’t really touch on corporations that are benefiting from information on the internet. Facebook makes money by selling personal information of people. In the article is states, “As with most technology, there is a sense of abstraction from prior experiences; in the cloud the user no longer needs to understand how a software program works or where his or her data really is. The important thing is that it works.” This is very much true. No one really reads the Terms and Conditions when using a new program, or at least I don’t. To the common people the internet seems like a place of freedom, where anything can be said. However, as mentioned in the article, governments and corporations determine control this freedom. At the end of the day, like I said many times, and like the article states, “The cloud is just too good. We won’t stop using our iPhones, iPads, Androids and Kindles.” It doesn’t directly affect us, so most people don’t really care. If you are so against the internet don’t use it.
