I feel that quite a large portion of the reading was a bit controversial, with the writer being a bit too, say, philosophical about the idea of internet. While he is being very subjective to his thoughts or even “facts,” his arguments can be very subjective.
For instance, his complaints on website ads that pop up without your consent, I do agree that it is not something that people are too fond of; but there is an idea of give and take in every parts of our lives. You want to use the first 5GB of Dropbox for free? Well, then take a look at the ads from their sponsors. Who knows, you might end up liking what’s exposed to you.
Also, they’re not very clear on their idea of “The Net is of us, by us, and for us.” or “The Internet is ours.” Who is us? and what is ours? Why is he going against the big corporations that are apparently trying to take over “our” internet? It is very confusing and the reading is very subjective, some people might agree to what they are trying to say but personally, I don’t agree with their points entirely.
