Michael’s Response Questions Reading #2

Under the title b. The internet is nothing and has no purpose, point 15, “The Internet like gravity is indiscriminate in its attraction. It pulls us all together, the virtuous and the wicked alike.” is a generalization like most of the statements. Is the internet really indiscriminate?

Under the title d. The net is not a medium, point 21 “Unlike a medium, you and I leave our fingerprints, and sometimes bite marks, on the messages we pass.” I think sometimes it is quite the opposite. People use the internet because they are afraid to do something in person and things are easily deleted to the common public if one regrets posting it. Adding to this under title f point 37, “Hatred is present on the Net because it’s present in the world, but the Net makes it easier to express and to hear” I think the main reason is because its so easy to hide behind a screen and the consequences can be less than doing so in person. Agree or disagree?

Under title h point 62 “Personal is human. Personalized isn’t.” What the hell does that even mean?
