I understand Goldsmith’s point of the idea that things don’t exist unless they’re on the Internet. However, I could see how one may argue this idea. Although we depend on the Internet more than often doesn’t mean what isn’t on there is irrelevant or untrue. There is information out in the world that is needed more often times than other searches but that is just the level of importance and where we want to rank them. There are also a handful of people who do not have access to the Internet whether they chose not to or cannot afford it. Does Goldsmith believe that there is hidden information not on the Internet yet?
A point that Goldsmith also made was a printing and digital file. He points out that digital files are more likely to be approached and read, but printing is still effective. I agree that at times an actual book is more convenient when it comes to being comfortable and traveling. Personally, my reading comprehension is much better when I have a physical reading in my hands. Digital files can be distracting and damage the eyes after a while. Do you believe that if the world were limited to digital files that people (who have a hard understanding to begin with when it comes to reading comprehension) would become less intelligent?
