It seems that the author wrote this article to critique and question the value that society puts on web developers. He doesn’t seem to quite hate his position as a web developer, but doesn’t enjoy it either.
I don’t think I totally agree with his negative stance, I think because of how much technology is used in our modern lives, web developers and coders are pretty necessary. Perhaps the work they are doing themselves isn’t really the most groundbreaking or influential, but without these interfaces, companies that ARE such are able to reach out to the public. The author seems to lament over the fact that he chose this high paying job over writing, and so this seems more like a reflection on the author’s own choice, and it seems like a general problem that is found within any creative industry.
