The point that Goldsmith is making is clear and in ways, definitely inevitable. However, the extent he takes the idea of documents, artworks, etc on the internet seems too drastic; it is true that a lot of physical copies of books, CDs for music, and even applications are being replaced digitally. However, the notion of keeping and having the “physical” copies of these shared informations is still crucially important. A lot of informations and posts on the internet are forged, inaccurate, and the sources of those documents usually refer back to actual physical copies of informations. When someone wants to make sure that a certain artist for a piece of work is the actual artist, we want to be able to find their book that is properly published and marked for rightful credit. Is it really necessary for current physical copies to be neglected more than it is now? Sometimes, convenience isn’t the only answer we should look for.
